Why we started Lumiere Oud

Anyone who has shopped for a good oud in Pakistan knows the problem: the honest stuff is either sold in the back of a small attar shop with no consistency bottle to bottle, or it's wrapped in imported packaging and priced like it flew in from Paris. We wanted a third option — attars and oud oils that are genuinely well made, smell the way they're supposed to, last on skin the way they're supposed to, and are priced for people who live here, not for people flying business class.

Lumiere Oud started small, out of Lahore, testing blends on friends and family before we ever sold a single bottle. That habit hasn't changed — everything we release still gets worn on real skin, in real Lahore heat, for weeks, before it earns a place in the collection.

We don't chase the cheapest price — we chase the fairest one. That means cutting the costs that don't reach you: imported glass, celebrity endorsements and layers of middlemen. And it means refusing to cut the costs that do: the concentration of oil in the bottle, the grade of the oud, and the weeks a blend is left to mature before it is filled. We work with trusted suppliers of oud, rose, musk, amber and saffron, choosing ingredients for how they actually smell and wear rather than for a fancy origin story. Every batch is blended in small quantities so we can check it by hand — by nose and by skin — rather than trusting a spec sheet. Where a formula is alcohol-free, it's because the note calls for it, not because it's a trend.

Small batches mean some of our attars sell out and take a little time to come back. We're comfortable with that trade-off — it's the price of consistency.
